The Road Accident Fund’s mission is to provide timely and equitable assistance to those affected by motor vehicle accidents through the provision of appropriate social benefits to ensure financial relief and recovery for qualifying individuals.

 

 

 

Purpose of the Internship: The Road Accident Fund is committed to youth skills development by providing graduates with an opportunity to gain workbased experience. Applications are invited for the Internship: Medical Management for unemployed graduates between the age of 18 and 25.The Internship program will run for a period of eighteen (18) months.

 

Work based exposure may include any of the following:

  • Medical Management – Assist with injury assessment administration, undertakings administration (drafting, issuing, activation, etc.), caregiver management process
  • Bill review: reviewing and processing of medical invoices for Supplier Claims, Past Medical expenses and future medical expenses.
  • Medical Management – Use of risk management tools in bill review including use of medical tariffs, clinical codes and treatment protocol to ensure that all service providers adhere to the rules and the tariff as guided by the RAF and managed healthcare principles
  • Exception Handling – Take part in the implementation and maintenance of a formal exception handling process within the medical management.
  • Maintain the documentation and regular updating  of the exception handling process
  • Stakeholder management – Follow-up and resolve all queries within the predefined turnaround times
  • External Stakeholder engagement (e.g. Road shows, consulting with families of claimants, service providers,direct claimants etc.)
  • General office administration, filing and data capturing related to the claims administration process.

Qualifications and other Requirements

  • Certified Grade 12/ NQF 4 level certificate
  • Certified copy of Relevant  NQF 7 Bachelor’s Degree/ Advanced Diploma in Health Sciences/ Medical related qualification
  • Certified copy of Registration certificate with HPCSA/SANC/SAPC or other regulatory body
  • Certified copy of your ID
  • Certified copy Academic transcript 
  • Your CV and motivational letter
  • Knowledge of clinical coding, claims and managed healthcare will be added advantage

Remuneration

The interns will be awarded a monthly stipend.
